Even if we say so ourselves this is a fantastic piece of knitwear.

Made in the finest merino wool and knit using a Milano knit formation which requires the machine to run slowy to construct a beautiful deep knitted structure. Its not black but a charcoal black which gives it more interesting texture and colour tone. The minimal details are all Bunker Mentality with the light grey stripe running across the chest and down the sleeves. The detail is topped off with the cast metal zip pullers with Bunker blue high lighting.

This is almost the perfect zipper for the autumn as it has a good weight to it but not to heavy like a jacket. Its knitwear so allows all the freedom of movement required and its body will hug you closer than your girl friend! A very wonderful piece of knitwear for lovers of great clothing and a Bunker connoisseur.

Also featured is the new long sleeve Playa Shirts with contrast stitching on the placket and collar.

Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie will reveal his wild card picks this week at Gleneagles. We have been discussing it all week here and on the Bunker face book page and now its time for you to pit your wits against Monty and win yourself a Bunker out fit. To win you need to pick exactly the same names as Monty. We will apply a tie breaker as several people may come up with the same names.

Tie Breaker

Lets have your odd ball ‘WILD CARD’ picks…these can be anyone from any time or walk of life. The funniest wins! The prize is your choice of one of these two out fits but this doesn’t include the golf shoes as we don’t do golf shoes…yet.

This Sunday see’s the end of all the speculation surrounding who Captain Montgomerie will pick as his wild cards for the upcoming Ryder Cup in October.

Up to as many as 10 names are in with a shout of making it to Celtic Manor but do they all deserve it?

A few months ago Monty said that if players hadn’t qualified, he expected to see them at Gleneagles for the Johnnie Walker Championship as this would be there last chance to make the team.

To be fair most are going to be there, some have even changed their schedule’s to tee it up in Scotland but on the other hand some haven’t.

The one’s in question: Padraig Harrington, Paul Casey, Luke Donald and Justin Rose have all decided to stay in the States and play on the PGA Tour in the FED-Ex Cup play-off race.

Their decision to chase the big bucks rather than European points has angered many but the players are sticking to their schedule.

Not too long ago Justin Rose said live in an interview that the Ryder Cup was not one of his priorities this season! Do we really want a player who thinks that on our team?

Also in an interview Paul Casey stated that he had understood that he should be competing for more points but his schedule was set and he wanted try and play his way into the season ending Tour Championship as he missed it last year through injury.

Padraig Harrington has played three times on the European Tour this year, which is surely not good enough commitment wise.

And Finally Luke Donald who out of the four has made the most effort after he spent a three week spell in Europe over the summer trying to get enough points to secure his place.

How many would I pick? Two out of the four and I know I should be thinking that we should give the players on the European Tour a go, the ones that have played in virtually every event this year, but for me Monty would be a fool not to pick them.

So who are they?

Luke Donald – His three week stay as I mentioned wasn’t just any vacation. Second place at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, followed by a third place at the Welsh Open at none other than Celtic Manor and then a victory in the Madrid Masters.

That’s first, second and third in three weeks which is incredible consistency.

He may not be the longest either but he is very straight and he holes crucial putts when needed which is a must in the Ryder Cup. He will be an excellent foursome’s partner.

Paul Casey – He is on the team purely for his Match Play record. It is like no other and on his day Casey can rival the best in the world. He has the ability to birdie every hole on the course if he was hot. Long and straight off the tee and he has pretty good Ryder Cup record to boot collecting 3 ½ points out of a possible 5 over three Ryder Cup’s.

So I would leave out Harrington and Rose? Why?

Harrington would be in the team purely on merit which isn’t good for anyone. I know you could look back at the likes of Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke when they were picked at the K Club in 2006 and they weren’t playing well at all but Harrington has been pretty poor.

A three-time major winner maybe, but one point out of a possible nine at his previous Ryder Cup’s isn’t a record to be desired.

And Justin Rose, a great season on the PGA Tour his best so far in an arduous career but for someone to say that the Ryder Cup is not a priority would ring alarm bells for me.

So my final pick. It goes to a man whose career has had blossomed over the past two years. Having dominated the Challenge Tour last year, he won the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond this year, came 5th at the Welsh Open at Celtic Manor, cut’s made in every major this season , 6th on the world points list, in the world’s top 25, at Gleneagles competing this week, won the World Cup with his brother. Need I say more? Edoardo Molinari is an absolute must to be on the team for me?

Who would be your picks if you were at the helm?

All the talking ends on Sunday.

It was another great event and Bunker World was there to catch some of the players before and after their rounds, all Bunkered up of course!

On a day that couldn’t make up its mind weather wise the players had to battle through every element possible, apart from snow that is.

We had hot sunshine, muggy humidity, torrential rain, high winds the lot, so obviously it was important to wear the right type of gear.

And as sponsors of this great tour we made sure the players were kitted out.

Dave Wilson 46, gets drawn in by the bright colours:

“It just a bit different, and for me that’s great. Its good quality and the different designs you can get are brilliant.

“It also has that youthful look about it” he said jokingly, “for me you can’t want much more than that.”

Jonathan Crickmore is a golfer who likes to wear outlandish attire. On this season’s Gtour, we have seen everything, topped off by some brilliant plus four’s at De Vere Dunston Hall.

It’s a simple answer for him when asked why Bunker?

“Pure and simple, the gear is just so cool, it blows every other brand out of the water. Today I based my outfit on two things. The need to adapt to the playing conditions and the need to look good, for me Bunker tick both boxes.”

Another Bunker fan on tour is Shaun Cade. At nearly every event Shaun has sported Stella on his shirt and with Shaun well in the top 20 of the order of merit, Shaun feels the difference from other brands:

“The shirts are so comfy and stylish at the same time, which I think is what sets them apart. I’ve got quite a few now and I’ll certainly be getting some more.”

Bunker World will next join up with the tour at De Vere Mottram Hall on Saturday 18 September as we go Stella spotting again.

In the meantime I hope Bunker brings your golf game the slice of luck we all need from time to time and don’t forget there is some great new styles on its way to the website so be the first to sport the new Stella at your club.

Happy Golfing.

It was a very exciting week in Bunker HQ. One of our pro ambassadors was playing in the Open at St this week as European Tour professionals and Bunker sponsors Paul Waring and Kylie Walker came in for a visit.

They both took time out from there busy schedules to come and speak to us as an exclusive for Bunker World.

It’s been a pretty good if not up and down season for Paul so far but with two top ten’s and four finishes within the top 30 you can automatically see that one day the hard work will pay off:

“I feel my game has just been a bit flat so far this season, I feel like a better player this season, even if I’m not playing great, I’m still making the cut and grinding out places to get a bit more money, which I wasn’t doing last season.”

Into his third year on tour after a glittering amateur career Paul is gunning for his maiden tour victory:

“It’s certainly something that I think about and I’m sure with the hard work I’m putting in I’m confident that It can’t be too far away.

A good friend of mine David Horsey won a few weeks ago in Munich so there’s good banter going on with us after he’s got the first one in but I’m encouraged by my game, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

After a wrist injury forced a long lay-off last season, steady progression and moving up the ranks on the European Tour is what lies ahead for Waring:

“Every golfer wants to win a Major, but realistically I want to be looking at the top 100 in the world so I can qualify for the Majors and the WGC events and maybe then I can start to challenge.”

Fashion is a thought never far from Waring’s mind both on and off the course:

“Being associated with this Bunker Mentality is great, it’s quite different and it’s not too in your face which suits me down to the ground. I like my clothes, but the stuff I wear on tour is really, really nice.”

Waring certainly has a great golfing mentality and if I had to guess it may not be too soon before we see if join the great names in the winner’s circle this year.

For Ladies European Tour pro Kylie Walker it has certainly been a year to remember so far.

Having turned pro at the start of the year and travelled the world so far this season Kylie admits that it’s been a bit different from what she expected.

“I have really enjoyed it so far and I’m having a great time out there, but more importantly I have enjoyed my golf, but it is quite different being on tour full time. I played in pro events as an amateur but it’s a completely different concept knowing that I’m a full tour player.

Having travelled to Morocco and Turkey and further afield such as Australia and South Africa, Kylie felt that part of being a tour golfer the most difficult:

“ It has been tough if I’m honest being out on the road three to four weeks at a time, but I’m still new to all this and I’m learning all the time from any mistakes which I make and I just make sure that I try and get plenty of rest.”

One of the most fashionable ladies on tour wearing the Queen of the Green, Bunker Mentality’s sister company, Kylie does get asked all the time what branding her clothes are:

“I do get a few looks if I’m honest but it’s only good comments I receive, some of the ladies really like it and I think it’s great. I love the brand because it is more feminine than others with the frills down the front and the puffy sleeves. I think it’s important to look good but ultimately it’s the golf that come first.

After the two weeks dissecting her game, Kylie has three weeks of tournaments starting in Ireland in three weeks time, then on to Wales before her home Open in Scotland.

She would love to be the Queen of the Green on home soil that’s for sure.

To finish the day we had a photo shoot with both pros and as you will see from some of the pictures they both enjoy a laugh and have definitely got a Bunker Mentality!

Its been a busy day today as we had the pleasure of two of our European Tour pros come and visit on the same day, Paul Waring and Kylie Walker. Its the first time they have spend an entire day in a bunker but this is Bunker HQ and not on a fairway. They had a full and busy day starting with them individually being interviewed by our friend Adam Smith a budding sports journalist who is working with us. Adam was extremely well prepared and both pro’s went through a fairly intense interview session. You will be able to read the entire interviews very soon.

We then talked them through the new SS2011 Collection…WOW was the general feedback. Paul is very impressed by what he saw and picked out some favourites which we have shown below. A big hit is the heavy gauge cotton knit zipper with the “B” logo on the front and a large Bunker golf cart on the back. He loved the new technical range which has been extended as it has been so very popular this summer.

The afternoon was spent in our photo studio, you can see both took to the modelling challenge. People often think modelling must be an easy job but our two golf pro’s would not agree but we think they performed very well. Here are some early pictures and more will follow over the next few days. Its been a great day, we’ve all had a good laugh and you will be able to see some of the videos we shot a little later.A big thanks to Paul and Kylie, they enjoyed it so much they want to come back and do it all again when their schedules allow…
