    St Andrews

Just got back from a couple of days in St Andrews. It is genuinely the best place in the world. I couldn't really think of much better than having both 7 golf courses within 20 minutes of each other and the most bars per square mile in the UK Now believe it or not i spent 48 hours there without actually playing any golf, I'm absolutely ashamed of myself don't worry. Going to have a look round the university is my feeble excuse for this. With any luck I'll be back there very soon to enjoy it all. Wouldn't be a bad place to spend a few years, probably wouldn't do my golf any harm either...

    A frustrating day

Well I had the last competition of the year today and to be fair I'm not sure what to make of it. After a very slow, stiff start I managed to produced one of my best ball striking rounds for a long time. On the surface I did hope this would help give me a decent score, however I forgot that stupid part of the game called putting. Needless to say I putted horrendously, actually horrendously doesn't really do it justice; I missed something like 6, 3 footers. In honesty I haven't practiced putting for weeks so it shouldn't really come as a surprise, more practice needed soon!!

    Winter Golf

I took a trip to the range today trying to prepare for the last tournament of the year this weekend. Standing there in the freezing cold, howling wind and eventually driving rain I very quickly realised Winter Golf is not far round the corner. Despite the cold temperatures, horrendous green condition and general poor quality of golf I'm really looking foward to it. There's nothing like getting up and playing on a clear, cool day. I should probably do my best to avoid get rid of this thin pretty sharpish, could start to prove fairly painful soon.

    A quick introduction

Not wanting to be boring I'll keep my first one brief. My name's Oli and luckily, after a surprisingly long purple patch I have managed to get my handicap down to 6. This has been mainly due to finding a normally illusive putting stroke, something I'm sure will hide itself away again fairly soon leaving me tinkering with little ideas to try and find it again. However, with any luck I'll keep chiseling away at that handicap and try to get as low as is humanly possible, something likely to partly sacrifice my school grades, time and finances along the way. I'll leave it there for now but expect some more, hopefully relatively interesting posts in the near future!
