so decided to head up to see if there were any gaps in the mid week stableford today so got picked up by a mate who always plays early so he picked me up at SIX FORTY FIVE this morning and we headed up pretty gloomy and misty by the time it got light lol!! anyway managed to get a game at 8.27 so ted off in the dry luckily and started off alright pars on 1,2 and 3 then chipped stiff on the par 5 4th nice steady start then parred 5,6 and 7 then two par 5's on the trot birdie eagle !! out in four under by this time there was a hard drizzle in the air not very fun so just thought hang on !!! bogeyed the really tough par 3 10th was into wind and hit a screaming 3 wood just short lol but bounced straight back with a birdie on the final par 5 11th by this time is was pissing down but i was happy in my expensive galvins !! big mistake lol zipe broke on my jacket and for the next seven holes plapped around like some uncontrollable cape !! SUPER GALVIN TO THE RESCUE !! anyway i digress lol
managed to par 12 and 13 then a really bad chip on 14 gave me a bogey but again bounced back on the short par 3 15th hit an 8 iron to about three feet and nudged it in to go back to four under parred 16 and 17 by now in monsoon conditions i half expected an ark to float by at any moment so stood on the 18th par four 455 into a hooly rain driving down and as i stood over my ball one of my partners who hadnt hit a sfor 67hot since the 12th when he slipped over and got his chino's mucky !! said to me ooh look your belts gone mouldy !!! i thought what are you talking about!! looked down and i had my bm broken star faded belt on at the time seemed like one of the funniest things i have ever heard !! anyway managed to hack my drive safely seventy yards right ob left !! rescue back onto the fairway a chip and run 7 iron from about 120 lol and two putts for a sort of played for bogey five for 67 39 points now just got to hope that the competition stands as long as half the field complete there rounds before the cour
se is closed it stands ! if thats the case ive made it down to plus one fingers crossed !!
another good comp and another cut to the handicap rocked up to the club to find not a breath of wind which at my golf club is unheard of so thought it would be agood chance to post a score as it turned out it was !! started of by hitting a drive and a seven iron to about eight inches on the first which was a nice kick in birdie then added birdies on 3 4 and 9 to be out in four under then made a great up and down at of the trap on ten for par missed a ten footer for birdie on 11 then birdied twelve to go five under after bombing a drive down the short par four 13th ten yards of green i thought the course record of 63 was in jeopardy unfortunatelyi missed a good chance there hit another good approach to the next and missed a ten footer then missed a tiddler for par on 15 to drop back to four under and thats where i stayed missing ten footers on 16 17 and 18 all for birdie but happy with 66 and that got me cut to + o.5 which is great next comp in the south west winter foursomes with our hea
d pro at our driving range will try and get some pics up and also may have to look at a nice new bobble hat anyway thats me for now hope everyone else is good spek soon rich

what an amazing week that was got to say birkdale is the best course i have ever played by an absolute country mile didnt play all that great but broke 80 both rounds and finished mid table but what an experience !!!!
so off to birkdale tommorow cant bloody wait first round have an immensely early tee time of 7.52 which im not looking forward to lol but should be absolutely awesome will let you guys no how i got on and what i thought of the course wish me luck !!
so played today in the coronation trophy at my club 18 hole medal of the white knockers started of with a ropey blocked rescue of the first but managed to hack it up near the green and chip and put for par then hit three of the best putts im ever going to hit on 2,3 and 4 all dead wait on the high side all caught the top lip teetered and ended up on the back lip!! got the feeling that it was going to be one of those rounds !! eventually got my first birdie of the day on the shot 6th rescue of the tee and a nice gap wedge to five foot but then stupidly followed it up with a three putt double on the par three 7th luckily for me 8 and nine are both quite rechable par fives which i hit both of them in two and safely two putted for birdies then arguably the hardest hole on the course a 234 yard par three with a tiny green which i hate i hit a high drawing rescue to about two foot for a nice kick in birdie and a couple more birdies on 13 and 16 and no more mistakes added up to a nice solid
66 back down to scratch 0.1 exactly hopefully will take this form into birkdale in a couple of weeks
so ive decided to take the plunge into the professional ranks and will be starting my pga foundation degree in may hopefully will get to compete a fair bit as there already four pros where i work looking forward to it
so last two rounds have hit it out of my skin only to find that i had left my putter in the freezer overnight league match on friday played six under hit 17 greens in reg and had 37 putts not good stats!!!! then had another 35 putts on sunday in a comp the problem is i feel like im hitting some good putts and there just not dropping hopefully a bit of carpet putting will solve the mystery fingers crossed !!
so just about recovered from st mellion quite windy conditions first round played okay but one or two sloppy shots and got heavily punished with a quad a triple and two doubles for an 84 12 over!! top forty qualify after 36 and after 18 80 was in 40th so knew i wasnt out of it second round played a lot lot better and was one over standing on 17th tee unfortunately a sloppy second and hree putts later walked off with a double bogey and bogeyed the last for 76 and missed out by one shot but came away feeling quite good with the second round cant wait for birkdale now should be awesome will let you know how i get on !
so its here biggest comp of the year for me plaing some nice stuff had a good session at the range yesterday turning into vj!! also have the expertise of andy yates on the bag today think we are bunkered up !! havnt agreed a rate yet tho maybe 10% of the balls i find or maybe 10% of my bacon bap if hes lucky !! will let ya know how we get on
so two weeks time to the next big one the st mellion international amateur championship course is already looking immaculate should be immense im cleaning the rescue as i speak thing it may get a lot of tee use there as if you miss the fairway your either in water of two foot cabbage sounds like fun !!!!! will let ya know how i get on
teeing it up at saunton in the hsbc champion of champions tournament tommorow weather looks a bit lousy will have all my bunker gear on hope i dont have to cover it with some galvin thats all lol just about to shine up the old weapons in the sink then ill be ready wish me luck grey skys and 65's here we come !
so after a pretty tasty couple of weeks of competition mixed with some very hard bouncy fairways i have finally got to my original goal when i started out 21 years ago to get to scratch 0.3 to be exact chuffed to bits shame i finished bogey bogey in the last comp but loved every minute of it hopefully going to turn pro next year and try my hand on the europro tour fingers crossed !!
