heading back to alvor to play the pestana courses.
great holiday course, plenty of reachable par fours and short 5's.
if short game is on form then sub 70 could be on the horizon.
perfect for start of season.
why do we live here?
too wet for golf an not cold enough for boarding. exactly what sport can we play in this weather.
so we have reached september, which is normally the final month of any worthwhile comps. My tour card is looking a bit shaky. Her indoors told me that i have to win one tourney each year to retain my tour card (get allowed to play more than once a week). Not looking too good, only a best of class to show so far. Only a bounce game at weekend due to Newlands trophy at course. Grrrr plus handicappers. Played like the josephs and marys open top saloon. Tried the new swing changes offered by Portuguese pro at amendoeria. Worked good on the range, on course different story, managed to turn a low draw swing into a very high fade. Ball flight like blackpool roller coaster.
So back to the range all week, and think i have found something.

Just finished a great golf book about guy trying to break par within a year from being hacker. V funny and well written, plus some good practice tips, better than the usual rubbish by pros who think a autobiography means talking through every shot in every round. I can get that everyday at my club if I wanted.

If anyone gets chance to go there play the o'connor course, it is much easier.
we have big amateur tourney all weekend at our course, so currently looking a course in Scotland that isn't under water to play.
at lanark we have a par 4 thats just over 300yds, so with wind behind it's in reach. hit a perfect draw with driver and it bounced straight towards hole, watched with heart in mouth as it rolled by the hole and finished 8 feet behind it, obviously missed the eagle putt. normally lay up at this hole, but will be letting big dog bark every time now. (well until i hook one into woods) As some old bloke once said, better to have tried and failed than to get a regulation par.
finally conquered the new course in a tourney. 76 nett 67 (yes i was up to 9 since start of season).
6 over par with four over in last five holes, tried to play too safe and battery ran out on trolley, so ended up pushing a dead weight around. But first cut of the season, so down to eight now.
Feeling there is a sub par round coming soon, missed 8 birdie putts from under 15 ft.
heading for scottish open sunday, pity paul had to pull out.
ok played in charity scramble on monday. two amazing shots, well one and one bit sad. amazing one , i am standing on tee ready to tee off when the shout for fore comes. Feel good so decide to take chance and hit shot, at start of downswing the other ball bounces once and takes my ball straight off the tee, leaving me taking a swing at nothing.
Sad one is playing partner hit one of those low ground huggers off the tee, and 50yds of the tee is this crow, which couldnt get out of road in time. Instant death. Amazing thing about it was the ball took its beak clean off, sad but amazing.
